REPUBLICANS PLOT CONTINUED ASSAULT ON VOTING RIGHTS

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Today, the House Election Law Committee voted along party lines to retain several bills in committee, including HB 362, HB 531, HB 535, and HB 554 which severely restrict the right to vote. Ranking Democrat Representative David E. Cote (D-Nashua) released the following statement:

“Republicans made clear today that they intend to further chip away at the Constitutional right to vote before anyone casts a ballot in the 2022 election. By voting to give further consideration to numerous bills that repress the voting rights of Granite Staters, Republicans have shown once again that their electoral strategy for 2022 will be to red-tape the electorate into nonparticipation.

As the Governor and Secretary of State have stated repeatedly, New Hampshire’s elections are clean, fair, and secure. There is no legitimate reason to give further consideration to these bills.”
