CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Today, Republican members of the Executive Council voted to reject $22.4 million in federal funding from the CDC to fund the Immunization Program under the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2021 and create 12 new positions for immunization purposes. In response, House Democratic Leader Rep. Renny Cushing (D-Hampton), released the following statement:
“Yesterday, Republican leadership, most of whom have admitted to receiving the vaccine themselves, led an anti-vaccination demonstration outside the State House. Like yesterday’s antics, today’s vote by the Executive Council to reject monies to fund a COVID-19 Immunization Program through the American Rescue Plan is shameful. The mere fact that Republicans have politicized vaccination against a deadly pandemic at all is frankly disturbing.
Granite Staters want a way out of the pandemic and vaccination is our path to a strong economy, thriving schools, and a sustainable healthcare system in New Hampshire. We are seeing the Republican party become more radicalized with each passing day and their refusal to listen to science is costing lives and costing Granite Staters our time stuck in this pandemic. Enough is enough.”
