REPUBLICAN ATTEMPT TO BLOCK THE LEGISLATURE FROM PASSING COMMON SENSE GUN VIOLENCE REFORM FAILS

Updated: Apr 8, 2021

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – April 7, the House of Representatives blocked CACR 8, a Republican attempt to restrict the legislature from passing common sense gun violence reforms. After the vote Representative David Meuse (D-Portsmouth) released the following statement:

“It is clear today that House Republicans are only in the business of defending the NRA and their donors, not actual Granite Staters impacted by gun violence daily. To prevent the legislature from ever passing common-sense reform to keep our communities safe is antithetical to our duty as legislators. CACR 8 was entirely nonsensical, and the vote today clearly reflected that. The price of civilization is realizing that individual freedoms, while something to protect and treasure, are not absolute and not unlimited. When we shirk that responsibility as a legislature, everyone loses.”
