HOUSE REPUBLICANS PASS BILL ALLOWING LOADED FIREARMS ON SNOWMOBILES

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – April 8, Republicans in the House of Representative passed House Bill 334, legislation that will allow any person to carry a loaded firearm on a snowmobile or OHRV. After the vote Representative Linda Harriott-Gathright (D-Nashua) released the following statement:

“Carrying a loaded firearm on an ATV or snowmobile is entirely unnecessary and dangerous. The risk for accidental discharge of a loaded firearm while on bumpy terrain in an open air vehicle is undoubtedly increased in these situations. These recreational, family friendly activities are part of New Hampshire’s vibrant and growing tourism industry including. The passage of this bill could make New Hampshire a more dangerous place and dissuade families that come here to visit and spend money in our state. Enjoying recreational activities outdoors should not include the risk of being shot by a loaded firearm. Full stop.”
