CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE –On Friday, Governor Sununu signed HB 263 into law, which increases the expenditure and contribution reporting threshold for political entities and doubles the allowable contribution to political committees from $5,000 to $10,000. Ranking Member on the House Election Law Committee and Deputy Democratic Leader David Cote (D-Nashua) released the following statement:
“No constituent has ever told me we need more money in politics, but that is exactly what Republicans have given us with this bill. By allowing more political contributions and expenses to go unreported, and by doubling the amount that people can donate to political committees, this legislation brings more money into politics and makes it harder to track corruption. Once again, Governor Sununu and the Republican Party have chosen to put partisan interests ahead of clean elections and transparency for the public.”
