CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Today, Dr. Chan reported the highest COVID levels in NH since the start of the pandemic. In response, House Democratic Leader Rep. Renny Cushing (D-Hampton) released the following statement:
“It is disheartening to hear New Hampshire’s State Epidemiologist acknowledge that the Granite State is currently experiencing the highest levels of COVID since the inception of the pandemic. Plain and simple, Gov. Sununu is failing our vaccination effort in New Hampshire. New Hampshire has the lowest vaccination rate in New England and currently has the second highest per capita COVID cases in the United States, behind Michigan. We are in crisis. While additional hospital beds are critical right now, what the Governor also needs is a plan to combat the misinformation being peddled by his own party, culminating in the angry mob that gathered in the Legislative Office Building just last Friday. This afternoon, the Governor himself admitted that his administration’s own vaccine registry had not been ‘allowed’ to be set up due to the month’s long denial of COVID funding by radical Republicans on the Executive Council and Fiscal Committees. Gov. Sununu is clearly not doing enough to protect Granite Staters, and our entire healthcare system is paying the price.”
