DEMOCRATS BLOCK LEGISLATION THAT WOULD DISMANTLE PUBLIC EDUCATION

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Today, the New Hampshire House voted 187-170 to lay HB 607 on the table, establishing local education savings accounts for students. Deputy Ranking Member on the House Education Committee, Representative David Luneau (D-Hopkinton) released the following statement:

“I am thrilled that HB 607 was tabled today. This bill would accelerate ongoing efforts to dismantle public education and siphon taxpayer dollars off to private schools with little accountability or regulation. The school voucher program passed by Republicans last year is already 5000% over budget. I thank my House colleagues who supported public schools and property taxpayers by voting to table HB 607 today.”
