DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATION TO PROTECT FAMILIES AND MUNICIPALITIES FROM PFAS BECOMES LAW

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Without public acknowledgement last Friday, July 23rd Governor Sununu signed HB 236, legislation that creates a 6 year statute of limitations on civil actions relative to damage caused by PFAS chemicals in NH. Prime sponsor of the legislation Rep. Suzanne Vail (D-Nashua) released the following statement:

"As this bill becomes law, New Hampshire is taking a monumental step forward for those harmed by PFAS, whether it be from impacted water supply, firefighting foam, firefighting turnout gear, or other sources of exposure. The new statute of limitations applies to personal injury, but also injury to a municipality, while not limiting any action the state may make. It is vital that we protect families and municipalities from bearing the cost of the health effects of industrial pollution. I am thrilled to have championed this legislation for the health and safety of all Granite Staters.”
